Hi!  I'm John Doherty and I started marmalade at Dogpole in 2020, followed a lifelong interest and passion for interiors and qualifying  as an interior designer over 20 years ago.

Whilst living in Devon for 14 years I was able to express my interest with design running a successful holiday let business and further gaining retail experience working for a major retail outlet.

Having decided to move back to the Midlands in 2019 from where my roots were, I decided to open a shop selling interior accessories which is where my passion lied.

From starting the business in 2020 I have seen the growing interest in hand made, eclectic and colourful lampshades and I have now moved from the shop in Dogpole, Shrewsbury, to now operating from my own workshop in Shropshire, now specializing and producing hand made lampshades using my crafting skills, offering an array of designs and colours from Drum shades to hand stitched fringed shades, and also offering a bespoke service.

I also enjoy passing on my skills by offering Lampshade making workshops in Shrewsbury.
